In the legends, it is said that the sun Goddess – Amaterasu blocked herself in a cave following an argument with her brother. As a consequence of her disappearance the world was cast in total darkness. The Gods tried everything to persuade the upset goddess to leave the cave. They begin to dance so wildly outside of the cave and finally attracted the Goddess to come out of the cave. The legend has been continued ever since, you can see “Yokagura (night dances)” performance at Takachiho Shrine during night time.

※ Please make your taxi tour request at Miyazaki’s taxi window in front of Takachiho Bus Centre.

※ You can also request to pay a visit to Takachiho Gorge.

＊ Note: Taxi tour departing on 14:30 from Takachiho Bus Centre has been changed to a 14:20 departure.

# Travel by Bike rental

You can request for a bike rental at the “Central Service Centre” in front of Takachiho Bus Centre.

2.Kumamoto Kotsu Centre: 9:22 departure

3.Aso Kumamoto Airport: 10:04 departure
