Libaran Island 2D1N



The experience:

Libaran Island lies on the north-eastern coast of Sabah, about 40 minutes boat ride from Sandakan and five minutes away from the main islands of Sabah’s Turtle Island Park. Libaran Island support about 450 inhabitants whose main livelihood being fishing and boat making. Turtles are known to come ashore and lay their eggs on the island.

- What You Can Expect -

Through the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Sabah Wildlife Department, a turtle conservation program has been set up on the island. The program includes creating awareness for the locals and visitors on the conservation value of sea turtles, undertaking research projects with the goal of better understanding the life cycle of sea turtles of Libaran island area and to make available research program on sea turtle for international and local students.

As part of the company corporate social responsibilities (CSR), Walai Penyu Resort, Libaran has opened a turtle hatchery and visitors now have the chance to release baby turtles from the hatchery and even see turtles coming on shore to lay eggs.

[Notes]

- Each camp could accommodate 2 persons only, the kid could stay with parents in a camp, and otherwise the 3rd person would have to pay Single Supplement Surcharge at MYR159 to stay in another room.
